About Us

When it comes to long service the Johnson's are a hard act to follow. We have been a family business for over 90 years having being first established in 1932 in North Kelsey, Lincolnshire by George Johnson. Today, it is George's Grandson Neil at the helm as Director.

Johnson's tippers were kept busy doing airfield construction work during World War Two although in the early 1950s the fleet was bought into the British Road Services during the long phase of long distance nationalisation carried out by the post war labour government.

Geographically Johnson's has stood on its 12 acre site at Crosby Grange, Scunthorpe for over sixty years. Now supporting all manner of warehouse and storage facilities. Half a mile from the network of wharves that surround Scunthorpe and two miles from the Scunthorpe steelworks also very close to the M180 making Johnson's ideal for customer's needs.

If you dig deep enough you will discover the Johnson's are passionate about transport life, Neil Johnson came straight into the family business from school he was at first sent to college for training in mechanics. In truth he was biding time until he was old enough to drive. Now a Director, the family ethics of good service & a good price continue and his son Ryan, also a director, plays an active role in the company following in his fathers and grandfathers and great grandfathers footsteps.

Johnson's fleet is a mix of Mercedes, Volvo. Scania and Daf. All pulling either tipper, flat or trombone trailers.
